Have you been broken by loss, grief, or abuse? Maybe you've felt outcast and lonely.

I've been there too, and I'm wondering what it looks like to live beautifully broken and more than mended.

Paul’s words in Corinthians 11 – 14 regarding women often pose a challenge for Christians. And although most churches tend to ignore these verses on head coverings, they do pose a question. How did Paul view women?

Lucy Peppiatt offers a fresh look at 1 Corinthians 11-14 in her book Women and Worship at Corinth: Paul’s Rhetorical Arguments in 1 Corinthians. This book is a deep dive into these verses using a vast variety of historical and biblical commentaries and sources along with the Greek text itself.

Lucy assumes her readers will be familiar with these scriptures, but I found it helpful to read this book with my Bible close at hand to look up the scriptures she referenced. The book is available in Kindle or Paperback on Amazon.

Come join me on Zoom twice a month beginning Thursday, May 9th @ 6:30 p.m. as we discuss Lucy’s book and how Paul’s words have impacted the women in the church.

Hope For Hard Roads

How do you tell someone that the journey may be far different than they expect and that it might be a long, lonely, journey through deep valleys of letting go? How do you offer hope when your own journey doesn’t appear to have a happily-ever-after ending? This journey to find space for grace was a journey that lasted years and cannot be easily summarized in one post. Initially, I didn’t even know what needed to change in my heart and my words and actions, but I found hope for hard journeys.

Duty, Desire, and Delight

I jump out of bed eagerly anticipating the day. It is early and my only day off in a six-day workweek filled with the obligation of my job. Today is Sunday, and I can choose between duty and desire. Today I am not governed by the clock. Today I can read for as long as I want the books that beckon for space in my spare margins. And today there is time to pour out words like water from my soul. I may do some of these things later today, but that is not why I have jumped from my bed eager to start my day.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God ~ 2 Corinthians 1:4

About Me

I’m back! I’m writing, blogging, and speaking again after a long season of growth and healing. It has taken me a long time to see that God’s beautiful, redemptive work is most often seen in brokenness, so I’m wondering what it looks like to be beautifully broken and to live more than mended.  Join me here as I write for the grieving, the broken, the outcast (LBGTQ Christian parents and adult children), the lonely, and the abused and how I have found joy and peace in all of these hard places.

My Journey With Justin

This book is my story – the first chapter in a lifelong journey of faith. Perhaps parts of my story may mirror yours. It is my prayer that as you read how God used hardships to heal my heart, you too may begin to experience God’s healing and peace – even in the midst of your present pain.

From the back cover

This is the touching true story of a young mother whose five year old son is suddenly left severely brain damaged as a result of unintended but devastating complications of open-heart surgery. Follow her journey of faith from heartbreak and hardship to happiness and healing as God uses the handicaps of her son to open her eyes to the handicaps hidden in her own heart.

Thank You

I would like to thank everyone who has encouraged and supported me as I return to writing and blogging. I would also like to thank all of those who helped make a new laptop a reality.

And a very special thanks to my son, Jerrod! Without his help and support, this website would not be possible!
